This beautiful platinum and diamond ring, made singular with a unicorn seal-engraved into rich, emerald green jadeite, was the bespoke vision for one of Rebus’ many clients. Seeking a cocktail ring that was both unique yet unostentatious, the Rebus Bespoke service was the perfect choice to create a piece outside of the core range of customisable jewellery, and bring their idea to life.
From the Rebus store in London’s famed jewellery quarter, Hatton Garden - or available remotely via Zoom - the bespoke process began with a no-obligation introductory consultation.
Marrying the client vision with over 40 years expertise in precious metal and stone engraving, Rebus provided inspiration for design, style, and materials, as well as a workshop tour and chance to meet the master craftsmen who would create their piece.
“As with all great design, it starts with an idea…”
Following the initial consultation, Rebus jewellery design specialists expand ideas and inspiration into a fully-formed concept, and discuss costs with the client. Whether that’s creating a ring in durable jadeite - found in many colours and well-suited for both intricate carvings and cabochons - or casting in the most highly-valued ‘imperial jade’ as seen here, this part of the process is where the magic really takes place.
For this piece, the design would focus on the round - mount, shank, and stones - with 24 channel-set diamonds embracing the diameter of the 20mm face and the unicorn engraving within.
The team then embarks upon the process of bringing the design to life, by creating final drawings. This is an important step, with the opportunity for final amendments before a hand-painted gouache artwork of the jewellery and wax model are produced to give an accurate representation of the final piece.
A dedicated team of jewellers and hand engravers then sets to work creating the design, sometimes with a fitting before hand engraving commences. Once completed, this beautiful ring along with any sketches and hand-painted gouache artworks are presented to the client at Rebus’ Hatton Garden premises, or shipped globally to their final destination.
