Gold expresses love, permanence, individuality and style more eloquently than words could ever do. Gold has been one of mankind's most revered substances since the beginning of time.

Yellow Gold
For the Rebus gold signet ring, yellow gold offers a classic appeal that never fades. The precise shade of yellow gold depends on its purity, measured in carats. For instance, 18-carat gold, which contains 75% pure gold, exhibits a rich, deep yellow hue and a slightly softer luster, often associated with high-end jewellery. In contrast, 9-carat gold, containing 37.5% pure gold, has a paler, more muted yellow tone but offers excellent durability and value. This interplay between purity, colour, and strength allows jewellers and clients alike to choose the perfect balance of beauty and practicality for each piece.
White Gold
White gold is essentially yellow gold combined with alloys such as palladium, silver, and copper to achieve its distinctive colour. Unlike platinum, it has a soft greyish tone rather than a pure white. For white gold signet rings, jewellers often enhance the finish with a rhodium plating, giving the piece a brighter, more polished appearance. We do not usually Rhodium plate our signet rings and Rebus jewellery, as the plating will wear over time and may need reapplication to maintain its shine. However we will do if you request and no additional cost.

Rose Gold
Also called red or pink gold, rose gold became popular in Russia in the early nineteenth century and is often known as Russian gold. It is created by adding copper to yellow gold, giving it a warm, blush-like hue. For our rose gold signet rings, we typically use a soft, pink tone that complements the classic design. The intensity of the colour depends on the gold’s purity, the higher the copper content, the stronger the red. As a result, 9 carat rose gold usually appears much pinker than 18 carat, allowing each signet ring to have its own unique character.
Platinum
Platinum is known for being the heaviest of all precious metals, which gives it a luxurious feel. Its high density provides exceptional strength and a naturally bright white colour that develops a soft, satin finish over time.
As a highly pure metal (95%), platinum is naturally hypoallergenic and will never tarnish. These qualities, combined with its lasting colour and durability, make it an ideal choice for a lifetime piece of Rebus jewellery

9 carat Gold
Among the three gold options we offer, 9ct (375 parts of pure gold per thousand) has the lowest gold content, making it the hardest and most durable. The higher the gold purity, the softer the metal becomes, so 9ct gold is ideal for those seeking strength and resilience. Its colour is also the lightest of our gold options, giving 9ct gold signet rings a subtle, refined appearance that stands up beautifully to everyday wear.
14 carat Gold
Containing 585 parts of pure gold per thousand, 14ct gold is a popular and well-balanced choice for a signet ring. It strikes the ideal balance between richness and strength — over half pure gold, yet resilient enough to withstand the demands of everyday wear. The heavy-weight Rebus gold signet rings, available in 9ct, 14ct, and 18ct gold, are hand forged and engraved to order. In both colour and durability, 14ct gold sits beautifully between the two, making it an ideal middle ground for those seeking elegance and longevity.

18 carat Gold
Crafted from 18ct gold (750 parts pure gold per thousand), these signet rings have a rich, luxurious appearance and a satisfying weight. The high gold content gives 18ct pieces their deep, warm yellow tone and distinctive glow. While softer than 9ct and 14ct gold, 18ct gold develops a beautiful patina over time, enhancing its character and charm. Elegant and enduring, it’s the ultimate choice for those seeking a truly premium gold signet ring.
