Each Rebus piece tells a unique story, and we consider ourselves privileged to share some of those deeply personal stories with you all. This particular signet ring stands out, as a testament to the power of family and the enduring love we hold for those we have lost.
After losing his beloved signet ring - a beautiful cornelian stone piece, gifted to him by a British diplomat working in Egypt - Harry struggled to find a ring to match the sentimental value of the original. It wasn’t until his father was sadly diagnosed with cancer that the idea of designing a signet ring to honour his father came to him.

Those of you familiar with Emmet's moving story about the bespoke signet ring he commissioned for his Dad, might be familiar with the words "Not by words, but by ideas”. This Latin motto, “Non verbis, sed Rebus”, from which Rebus takes its name, was central to this design.
Returning once again to this timeless creed, Emmet has designed a personalised pendant from the Rebus collection - this time in honour of his Mum and late Grandmother - using those very same words. Bringing his bespoke vision to life, he created a piece that married together the exact materials, chain length, and design of his choosing.

'The Kamon symbols of Japan - family crests that represent lineage and ancestry - have a long and fascinating history dating back to ancient times.
Sometimes referred to as 'Mondokoro' or 'Mon', these symbols represent a family or individual and are often found on traditional Japanese clothing, furniture, and jewellery. The symbolism behind Kamon is rich and varied, with each symbol holding its own unique meaning and significance.

When his father passed away in 2019, Rebus founder Emmet Smith, set about designing an everyday signet ring to wear in his memory.
Emmet, who already owns another signet engraved with the Latin ‘Memento Vivere’ or ‘Remember to Live’, is no stranger to the historic tradition of memento mori jewellery. Wanting to create a personalised version of this style in memory of his dear departed Dad, Philip (a.k.a. Dickie, Detsy, the Captain), he set about bringing his bespoke vision to life.

Everything begins with an idea, and the same is true of any piece of Rebus jewellery. Sometimes that idea comes to us fully-formed, but more often than not customers require the help of our award-winning team of artists and illustrators to coax it into life.
One such idea came to the Rebus workshop recently; a collection of inspirations one customer wanted represented on a personalised signet ring. Looking for a traditional design that include the initial T, and whose artwork would represent protection, shepherding, defence, and valour, the importance of family, and include a nod to their Greek heritage and Christian faith, our heraldic artist got to work.

From Stone Age stones and shells worn around the neck, to amulets and talismans gracing the necklines of Ancient Greeks and Romans, the history of wearing pendants dates back thousands, if not millions, of years, and the design of these pendants is as diverse as the wearers themselves.
In that time-honoured tradition, here at Rebus we have created a beautiful collection of pendants that provide the ideal blank canvas upon which to create a bespoke engraving. Each pendant is fully customisable, from face size to chain length, from setting stones to personalised engraving.
Here’s how to create your perfect pendant; a strikingly contemporary piece of jewellery, steeped in heritage, and unwaveringly unique.

“I can’t tell you how many compliments we both get on our rings — and people love the story. A very cynical friend said that it’s the most romantic anniversary present she’s seen!”
25 years of marriage. A quarter of a century of love and commitment.
For Marnie and her husband, it made sense to celebrate this special milestone with the gift of something truly unique and special; an anniversary keepsake and heirloom.
Inspiration came from an evening watching The Crown, and the gift of a signet ring given to Princess Diana. Marnie set about researching where she could commission a pair of bespoke signet rings, and came across Rebus.
